More than 30 years in the making

We started out as Life Care Retirement Communities, Inc. (LCRC), back in 1976, in Des Moines, Iowa. LCRC was founded as a guiding sponsor for newly developed retirement communities. Our goal was to help create exceptional, financially sound communities where people could enjoy a more rewarding and secure retirement. We have grown into the seventh largest provider of not-for-profit retirement communities nationwide and manage a network of 11 communities in seven states. Today our Board of Directors includes professionals in management, finance, health care administration, insurance, accounting, marketing, construction, real estate and food service. In 2009, we changed our name to Lifespace Communities, Inc., to reflect the total experience of living in our communities.
